Ethnic diversity in NZ parliament declines

Since 1996, New Zealand鈥檚 parliament has become increasingly diverse 鈥 until now.听

Following the 2020 election, New Zealand was reported to have 鈥渙ne of the most diverse parliaments in the world鈥 by CNN. However, the 2023 election and a swing to the right means New Zealand's Parliament has become less diverse in terms of different ethnic backgrounds, suggesting some political parties should reconsider the makeup of their candidate lists and memberships.
